From today’s KTLA News:

More than 1,000 skilled trade workers across the California State University system began a statewide unfair labor practice strike Tuesday.

The workers – plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, locksmiths and other building maintenance staff – are on strike at 22 campuses across the state.

Teamsters Local 2010, the union representing the striking workers, said in a media statement that the strike is in protest of “CSU’s refusal to honor contractually promised raises and step increases for its workers.”

“For nearly 30 years, CSU denied workers regular step increases, leaving them with no way to move through their wage ranges, resulting in workers with decades of service languishing at the bottom of their pay range. Teamsters Local 2010 members organized, fought back, and won fair salary steps and long-overdue raises through a series of strikes in late 2023, finally bringing CSU Skilled Trades workers closer to the pay levels they deserve,” the union stated. “Now, CSU is illegally refusing to pay the contractually promised raises, falsely claiming the state did not fully fund the University.”
